Antlers has an array of amenities and things to do around the property. First and foremost, there are three quarters of a mile of sparkling mountain waters of the Rio Grande running through the property. This stretch of the Rio Grande is especially well suited to fishing and is considered some of the very best on the entire upper Rio Grande by sportsmen and outfitters alike. There is also a private stocked pond, which is great fun for the kids and for perfecting your cast.
The lodge includes a gift shop, restaurant and a game room with pool table, card table, chess set, reading library and cable TV. On the front porch, there is an oversized checkerboard on an old tree stump with rocking chairs waiting for a friendly game.
There are several fire pits and horseshoe sets conveniently located around the property. The picnic pavilion has charcoal grills and plenty of picnic tables for any size group get together. It is situated near the playground, which features a play fort, swings, balance beam, train, wooden horse, volleyball court and an old mining shack straight off of a movie set.
Across the suspension bridge, a trail leads up the mountain and into the limitless national forest beyond. The Antlers Cliffs, part of which are on Antlers’ property, are featured by the Forest Service as a rarity and attraction of the Rio Grande National Forest. They are a favorite of rock-hounders as fossils can sometimes be found.
